Jason King Band Bio
This heavy-hitting blues/funk quintet powers up with great classic
tunes from Buddy Guy and Albert King to Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray
Vaughan. They then kick it into overdrive with their own infectious
mix of soulful originals. The Jason King Band is a local favorite and
has performed all over the Reno/Sparks/Carson City/Tahoe area in venues
such as William’s Back Door Blues Club, Cantina Los Tres Hombres
I & II, O’Ski’s Irish Pub & Grille, Great Basin
Brewery, The Garage, The Hacienda Bar and Restaurant, and Abby’s
Highway 40, just to name a few. The group has performed in large scale
events such as the Nugget Best of the West Rib Cook-off and the Big
Easy Festival and has made many appearances at the Sparks Farmer’s
Market. The Jason King Band also performs at many of the Reno Blues
Society events and fund raisers. Jason King has shared the stage with
such Blues luminaries as Michael Burks, Coco Montoya, and Tommy Castro.
Every performance will have you up and groovin’ to the driving
sound of the Jason King Band.
Jason
King Roxas – Reno native Jason King Roxas fronts this
boogie-woogie funky blues group. While his string-bending ferocity creates
forward momentum, his riffs and licks gain unstoppable power when he
lays down a tasteful onslaught of heartfelt lyrics and soul-shaking
vocals. Jason’s guitar virtuosity and vocal delivery give the
group that extra something…SOUL, baby!!
Wil
Banks -- Bass player wilbert banks hails from Los Angeles,
California. His influences include James Jamerson,Bill Wyman, Paul McCartney,
Jack Bruce, and a host of others. Wil has been quoted as saying that
he has never heard a bass player that he didn't steal something from.
Joel
Bellin – Rounding up the Jason King Band is Joel Bellin.
His solid groove and R&B approach fuel the group’s driving
beat. Joel’s versatility and percussive style add polish and sizzle
to the group’s repertoire of funky rockin’ rhythm and blues.
Dave
Macias - Saxman Dave Macias was born and raised in Fort Worth,
Texas. His major influences include John Coltrane, Cannonball Aderly,
Miles Davis, and Paul Desmond. Dave's meltingpot of influences and unique
musical style is evident in his powerful delivery and melodic playing.
Freddie
Mills – This late bloomer picked up the harmonica during
his early twenties. Within a couple of years Freddie was playing and
recording with various Blues groups, all the while sharpening his Chicago-style
harp chops. He credits harmonica legends such as James Cotton, Junior
Wells, and Little Walter as his greatest influences. “I also like
to play Country-style harmonica,” adds Freddie.
